the quest for knowledge

Today the little ones did a scientific experiment to see what would happen at bath time if you keep filling the tub until it overflows onto the floor. The outcome was that the entire floor got wet. I hope they find this knowledge useful or helpful in some way.

They are wonderfully scientific, are the little ones. You could suggest that the experiment works just as well if it's done with the wash-tub in the garden. It also has the effect of keeping the Big Ones happier too.

Now could be the perfect time for Pamela Allen's "Mr Archimedes' Bath". I love love this story book.

I have noticed that the little ones do not like to substitute for the real thing. I think that is why it must be the bathroom tub to overflow and nothing else.

It's the unexpected side effects that are of particular interest to my Young Scientists. They note the answers to interesting questions such as, 'What shade of red will Mummy's face go when she sees this?' and 'How loud will Daddy's voice be when he hears about it?'
